UTT Awarded TT$3 million in grants

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) was awarded just under TT$2.97 million from the 9th European Development Fund Programme, implemented through the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training. The four (4) projects awarded seek to build capacity for UTT's students and graduates in their entrepreneurial thrust, more specifically in the areas of Innovation, Fashion, Music and ICT.

There is currently a call for proposals for the 2016 funding cycle. UTT’s academics and students are invited to liaise with the International Office and Grant Funding Unit for further information on the call for proposals.

 

Consideration would be given to projects pertaining to:

  • "A more Diversified, Knowledge Intensive Economy"
  • Social inclusion of the differently-abled, the financially-challenged, the academically under-prepared and those who live in rural communities
  • Inclusion of mature/adult learners in tertiary education and skills training
  • Focus on quality systems to facilitate compliance to international standards
  • Building of capacity to develop critical information sources that are essential to drive decision making and policy design
  • Development of a comprehensive and centralised data-driven system of performance monitoring, to continuously assess institutional quality and effectiveness
  • Curricular reform at all levels of the education system with an emphasis on:
    • Science
    • Technology
    • Creativity and Innovation
    • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking Skills
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Research and Development (the conduct of relevant research to inform tertiary education and Technical Vocational Education and Training [TVET] development)
  • Forging and strengthening strategic partnerships with the private sector
  • Sustainable development, education and training, scientific research and innovation and technology-enhanced education
  • Strengthening of sectoral and institutional governance for greater effectiveness and efficiency
  • Internationalisation of education and distance education
  • Develop and strengthen a culture for evidence-based decision-making
  • Acquisition of accreditation statuses
  • The use of information and communication technologies to improve the quality of teaching and learning
