Darren Alfred displayed a perfect combination of the four Ds in Sport Psychology: discipline, dedication, determination and drive. Going into the finals of the 400 metres as the third fastest qualifier, he produced a sterling run to beat a field from St. Lucia, British Virgin Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and Grenada in a personal best time of 46.73 seconds. He then produced a blistering 21.44 seconds in the 200 metres to again do his personal best.

Darren also contributed to a gold medal performance with Kirdell McIntosh, Tauren George and Christopher Richards to win the 4x400 metres relay, the last and most exciting event of the games.

Michaelene Williams was the next medalist with a second place in the 1500 metres women in her season’s best.

Also doing personal bests were Christopher Richards in the 100 metres and Lincoln London in both the 100 and 200 metres flat. Other competitors in Grenada were Sade Andrews and Alena Clarke.
